About St. Mary's Primary School

St. Mary's is a primary school which serves the central part of the north Devon town of Bideford. We currently have 340 pupils on roll organised into 12 classes. We take children from the September after their 4th birthday and they leave in the July following their 11th birthday. Although some children transfer to other secondary schools, most move to Bideford College (the town's 11 - 18 comprehensive school), with which we have a close working relationship.

Year 6 Residential.

This year the Year 6 residential trip took place at St. Briavel's Castle in the Forest of Dean.  The moated Norman Castle is over 800 years old and is full of history and character; it was once the hunting lodge of King John.

During their stay the children benefited from a range of activities including:

SS. Great Britain, which is situated in a dry dock in Bristol.

Instow Cross Country

On Thursday 25th February the children in years 5 and 6 joined several other primary schools, from the Bideford Learning Community, to take part in the Instow Cross Country Festival. All of the children were enthusiastic, supportive and tried their best. Some of our children did exceptionally well; Aiden came 2nd in the Year 5 Boys, Rachel 5th in the Year 6 Girls and Billy 4th in the Year 6 Boys. Overall the Year 5 children came 2nd and the Year 6 children achieved joint 3rd.
