Admission and Secondary Transfer Arrangements
We have one point of admission for children at the start of their school careers. All children are admitted to the Foundation Stage in the September after their 4th birthday. After 3 weeks, those children whose 5th birthday falls between September 1st and March 31st become full time, and those whose 5th birthday is after March 31st continue attending for mornings only.After Christmas, they attend full time. For all children who are being admitted in September, we have an induction programme during the Sumer Term preceding entry.
St. Mary's is a Voluntary Controlled School, and as such our admission arrangements for 4 year olds are organised by Devon Local Authority. Parents are encouraged to apply on-line at:

You must apply on-line or complete the paper application by mid-January. The outcome of the application is sent or e-mailed by mid-April.
The vast majority of children leaving St. Mary's at the end of Key Stage 2, transfer to Bideford College. Applications for places at secondary school are made in the same way (paper or on-line) and should be completed by mid-October. Details of how to apply are available each year by the beginning of September and the outcome is known by the beginning of March.
