KS1 Cookery Club

Spring Term 2012

We now have a new group of children at cookery club. This term we have made sandwiches, practising our cutting and spreading. We filled them with cheese, cucumber and tomato. We made fruit salad the following week with grapes, strawberries, apples, bananas, oranges and our exotic ingredient, pomegranate. Everyone tried some, but not everyone liked it!  Last week we made peppermint creams then drizzled them in chocolate! They were so easy to make and some children were surprised that they tasted similar to their toothpaste! Next week we will be making pizza!

Cookery Club started this week with the first group of children. We apologise that some children have to wait a while before they have a turn, but we did receive over 60 reply slips!
This week we made sandwiches, either cheese, cucumber, tomato, or a combination (some of us had all three!) We practised spreading our butter, cutting our salad and grating our cheese. Once we had made the sandwiches we had a little picnic! The sandwiches were ‘delicious’ (Stefan) and ‘yummy’ (Emily). Everyone tried the cucumber, tomato and cheese even if they didn’t think they liked it. We talked about how important it is to try new foods. We are looking forward to next week and seeing what we will be making!
