Our Comenius Project

Just before Christmas we hosted a meeting of teachers from around Europe.
Jose Antonio Pujol & Carmina Pinteño from Sant Joan d’Alacant, in Spain.
Mary Gero from Szarvas, in Hungary.
Maria Louisa De Giorgio from Turin, in Italy.

We had this meeting to prepare for an international project that we hope will take place over the next two academic years (September 2007 – July 2009)

We also have another partner, Spiros Mamalos from Afra in Corfu, Greece, who is hoping to take part but was unable to attend the meeting.

The project will be based around the sharing of traditional stories from all the countries involved. We are hoping to produce a booklet of these stories in all five languages, and illustrated by the children involved in the project. In addition to this, we plan to create a website where the stories and other work arising from this project will be published.

Comenius is a project which involves most of the countries in Europe. In order to run this project each country must apply to their national agency for the necessary funding. We should know if we have been successful by the end of June this year hopefully.
