Celle, Germany

In the Woodpeckers we have been writing to Mountbatten School, a British Forces primary school in the German town of Celle.

Celle is  a town of about 70 000 inhabitants in Northern Germany.  It is situated on the edge of the Luenebuerger Heide, an area of heathland and forest.

Celle is famous for having over 400 half-timbered houses and a palace (Schloss) in which the relations of King George I of England lived.

It has been interesting for the children in Bideford to find out about the lives of English children growing up in Germany.
