October 2011

Welcome to the first kitchen newsletter.

Firstly may I introduce myself, I am Lisa Barlow the Kitchen Manager and together with my two Catering Assistants, Kim Short and Jayne Arnold we aim to produce freshly cooked healthy food.

School meal take up is on the increase. At St Mary’s we have seen a steady climb in school meal numbers. We are offering a good variety of choices each day. I am in school from 8.30am and am happy to chat with any parent regarding their child’s tastes. After half term we plan to introduce another option – Homemade soup and a roll, a hot and tasty alternative to a packed lunch!

I thought I would give you in this month’s newsletter, a recipe to a very popular pudding – Chocolate Cracknel.
We have taken delivery of a ‘photo board’ and really need help filling it! Perhaps if you make the Chocolate Cracknel during the half term holiday you could bring in a photograph of the dish together with the budding cook! Or if there are any young artists out there that could draw or paint a picture, perhaps of their favourite meal, we would love to display it.
Dates for your diary:

4th November - Come on children, your bonfire weekend starts here!

‘Bangers and Chips’
Rocket Wrap
Bonfire Bap.
Catherine Wheel Cookie with gunpowder gloop.

10th November.
We are holding a Community Lunch on this day and will be inviting parents from our Foundation Stage to join us. We would love to see you and show you how  well your children are eating! A separate letter will be sent out after the half term holiday.

We welcome feed back from Parents, Carers and children as we are continually trying to improve our service and with this in mind we have supplied you with a questionnaire. Please take a few moments to fill it out.
