School Values
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
“Together we journey to a future of opportunity.”

Our School Values
Our School Values ensure that every child will be well supported in an environment underpinned by Christian values, where they feel safe and secure, able to take risks and make mistakes, showing respect for one another and valuing difference. Every child’s unique qualities will be appreciated and nourished so that their potential is fully realised in a supportive Christian environment.

Friendship
Acceptance

Respect
Honesty
At St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, we believe and promote the importance of developing core values by which we live. These develop the children’s moral and spiritual awareness in themselves and others. As a school, we have collaborated key qualities of Christianity and British Values to create our own School Values. These are explicit to children and staff. These six values are integral to all our daily lives, how we teach and what our children learn. We seek to explore the meanings of their significance through weekly Acts of Worship delivered by varying staff across the school and by Reverend Claire and the ‘Story Tellers’ from St Mary’s Church.
The gifts of Friendship, Acceptance, Perseverance, Compassion, Respect and Honesty, are key values that we strive to embed in children for life. Whilst these gifts are inclusive of human values and British values, we anchor them into the Christian faith by relating them to the Bible, through stories and readings delivered by our school ‘Story Tellers’ from St Mary’s Church. These values are displayed in all of our classrooms as well as our School Values display which is updated half termly to include images and quotes, from the Bible and elsewhere, to help the children fully understand what they mean and how they link to their own lives.
Half termly, we focus on a specific value, which is discussed with class representatives at the School Ethos meetings each week. The theme is promoted through a launch collective worship session, class activities, philosophy sessions and whole school assemblies.
We value and celebrate the heritages of everybody at our school. Alongside this, we value and celebrate being part of Britain.
