Who's Who

Our Leadership Team

Dr Stuart Boon

Acting Headteacher

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer

It is a privilege to step up to this acting position having been deputy headteacher since September 2022 and having worked at the school between 2014 and 2017 as a class teacher and team leader. I have always loved the school and what it offers the children and local community. We have a very committed staff team who strive to be the best they can and children who love to learn. I am determined to ensure that everyone in our school continues to succeed in a supportive and nurturing environment underpinned by our core Christian values of friendship, compassion and perseverance.

I completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship in December 2023 and hold a Doctorate in Education from Leicester University. Outside of school, I enjoy music, running, walking my dog, spending time with family and friends and learning new things.

Mrs Rachael O'Dell

Music is a great passion of mine, I love singing, playing the piano, clarinet and bassoon (not all at the same time).
I also love walking with my family and my two dogs.
Children and some staff will say that I can often be found in my office talking to myself!

Mrs Candy Daffern

Acting Assistant Head Teacher

Phase Leader

Before coming to St Mary’s in May 2022, I lived and worked in the US. There I specialised in Early Childhood Education as the Director of Head Start Programs in Charlottesville, VA and worked as a teacher of an inclusive PreK teacher serving vulnerable children and families.  It was here that I gained my Masters in Early Childhood Special Education at James Maddison University.  Prior to this I began my career teaching on the borders of Hampshire and West Sussex.  Starting in 1991 I taught in Key Stage 1 and 2 before finding my “home” in the Foundation Stage.  In 2003 I joined the West Sussex advisory service as an Early Years Specialist.  Then, missing relationships with children and families, I was appointed as Head Teacher and Head of Centre to Chichester Nursery School, Children and Family Centre.  As leader of a strong and dedicated team, the school and centre received four Outstanding Ofsted inspections.
